A Contemporary Shaker Kitchen with Island Layout in Netherton, Huddersfield

When the homeowners decided to update their kitchen in Netherton, they wanted a space that better reflected their personal style while also improving the way the room functioned. Creating a More Open & Social Kitchen Layout

Located close to Holmfirth, Berry Brow and Castle Hill, this Huddersfield kitchen project centred around transforming the flow of the room.

The biggest change was replacing the existing peninsular with a central island. This immediately opened up the space, making it easier to move around while creating a natural focal point within the kitchen.

The island also incorporates a breakfast bar, providing a comfortable space for informal dining and somewhere for family or friends to sit while meals are being prepared. The result is a kitchen that feels far more welcoming and connected to everyday life.

A Modern Interpretation of a Shaker Kitchen

The homeowners selected the Nobilia Nordic range in Sand, creating a kitchen that balances classic shaker styling with contemporary design details.

Paired with 20mm Silestone White Arabesque quartz worktops and matching splashbacks, the soft neutral cabinetry creates a bright and elegant feel throughout the room. While shaker kitchens are often associated with traditional interiors, the combination of slim worktops, modern handles and the island layout gives this design a much more contemporary appearance.
