A Bespoke Open-Plan German Kitchen in Bradway, Sheffield 

As part of a full house renovation in Bradway, Sheffield, this client wanted a kitchen that would completely transform the way the home looked and functioned. The project centred around creating a luxurious open-plan space that combined striking design with practical everyday living. Our talented team designed a bespoke Nobilia kitchen featuring a dramatic island, elegant glass cabinetry and a fully integrated spice kitchen. 

Designing Around the Space 

Located close to Dore, Totley and the Peak District, this Sheffield kitchen project formed part of a larger renovation of a newly purchased home. 

One of the key design challenges was a structural pillar in the middle of the room. Rather than allowing it to interrupt the flow of the kitchen, the island was carefully designed to wrap around the pillar, helping minimise its visual impact while maintaining a clean and sociable layout. The result is a spacious open-plan kitchen that feels both functional and connected to the wider living space. 

A Contemporary Kitchen with Rich Contrast 

For this project, the homeowners chose a combination of Nobilia Easytouch and Structura ranges in stunning Mineral Green and Havana Oak finishes. 

The deep green cabinetry adds lots of richness and character, while the warm wood tones soften the contemporary design and bring a natural feel into the space. In the main kitchen, 20mm Calacatta Dusk quartz worktops create a high end finish, while the spice kitchen features matching Havana Oak laminate worktops for continuity throughout the design. The kitchen also features glass wall units and open shelving for decorative storage, allowing for lots of personalisation of the space.  

A Kitchen Designed for Practical Living 

One of the standout features of this project is the dedicated spice kitchen, giving the homeowners a separate area for more aromatic  cooking while keeping the main entertaining space clean and open. The design also includes practical storage upgrades in the form of internal bins and a corner carousel, helping improve access to difficult corner units and maximise usable storage throughout the kitchen. 

The island layout keeps movement through the room easy and sociable, making it ideal for both family life and entertaining guests. 

Appliances & Finishing Touches 

To complete the space, the kitchen features a carefully selected range of premium appliances and finishing details, including: 

• Siemens IQ700 ovens with matching full-height microwave  
• Elica downdraft induction hob  
• Bosch gas hob within the spice kitchen  
• Schock Greenwich XL undermount sink in black  
• Matt black taps throughout  
• Matching upstands and sleek handleless cabinetry  

The downdraft extraction keeps the space above the island completely open, helping maintain the clean architectural feel of the room.
